We love all the dog-friendly restaurants in Hong Kong! From a line of restaurants at Repulse Bay to cosy cafes like Little Cove Espresso in Sai Kung, there are plenty of places to grab a bite with your pooch.

If you’re like some of us, you have human kids and furry kids. And luckily, we live in a city with amazing hikes, waterfall wonderlands and weekend getaways that allow us to bring along our furry friends. But it can be tricky to find the best dog-friendly restaurants, and many times, places we think will allow children and dogs are sadly just for the kids. That’s why we decided to put together a handy guide for you, your fam and your hound. Bookmark this list of dog-friendly restaurants for your next weekend adventure. Bocadito – Tapas for the pups!

Tuck into this little tapas bar in Soho if you’re looking for some great cocktails and a lighter meal on date night. Your furry friends are welcome to join you as you chow down on some Mexican-inspired tapas and sip on some seriously tasty cocktails.

Brunch Club – Dog-friendly restaurant with an outdoor garden

This cosy, neighbourhood café is a great spot for a wholesome bite to eat. We’re big fans of its cute outdoor garden, where your fam and your pup can relax amidst the hustle and bustle.

Elephant Grounds – Cosy dog-friendly café

Came for the amazing free wifi, stayed for the cosy pet-friendly storefronts (perfect for a pet-playdate!). There are Elephant Ground locations across town and while we love them all, we recommend stopping by their K11 MUSEA branch for an afternoon at the Bohemian Garden.

Fleur – Instagrammable treats for your pets

You will easily find doggos lounging under tables and chairs at this floral-themed restaurant inside The Mills. Indulge in kid-friendly eats like waffles, ice-creams and toasts (they come with edible flowers!) and for the four-legged friends, this dog-friendly restaurant serves banana bread, cooked carrots and chicken breast!

Flying Pig Bistro – Dog-friendly restaurant in Sai Ying Pun

The perfect spot to dig into a Sunday roast with your pooch in tow, Flying Pig Bistro is extremely accommodating. On a hot day, choose to sit inside in the restaurant or watch the world go by out front. The friendly staff will happily bring over a bowl of water for your pup along with your menu.

Hooman By The Sea – Popular dog-friendly restaurant in West Kowloon

Spending the weekend at West Kowloon is fast becoming one of our favourite activities. From tenting out on a sunny day (don’t forget to bring along your bikes!) to letting the doggos loose (yes, we let the dogs out!) and visiting the museums nearby, there’s plenty to do. What’s more, Hooman By The Sea serves pet-friendly treats and refreshing drinks to cool off in the summer heat.

Little Cove Espresso – Spacious Sai Kung dog-friendly restaurant

This Sai Kung cafe is a favourite amongst many and you’ll know why the minute you step in (or sit out!). We would suggest bringing your pets out on a weekday and get cracking with work as it gets crowded on weekends but either way, your dog will make new friends and so will you!

Limewood – Beachside laidback pet-friendly restaurant

There’s no need to leave the pooch at home when indulging in frozen margaritas with friends. Limewood is big on innovative cocktails and fresh flavours, making it a top spot to have a girl’s night. But it’s also a great spot for when the kids want to play at the beach and you just want to hang with your dog (we’ve been there).

Open Door Café + Courtyard – Puppucino for your pooch!

This chilled-out café is one of our favourite neighbourhood hangouts in Sai Ying Pun, serving up delicious coffee, food and smoothies (your kids will love!). It also serves a puppuccino if your dog needs a refreshment too! Open Door is a super dog-friendly restaurant and often hosts pet-related events – we’re talking doggy playdates, fundraisers and even dog yoga!

Spasso – Harbourside brunch at this dog-friendly restaurant

We are a sucker for family-friendly brunches and Spasso is on top of the list. Spending your Sunday sipping on champagne (juices for the little ones!) and the breezy seaside wind (pets love it) almost feels like a mini-vacay. You’ll find the best of seafood bites and cold cuts here and the bustling neighbourhood of Tsim Sha Tsui will have plenty for you to do with the family.

Winstons Coffee – Pet-friendly coffee shop

This Aussie-style café is small but sweet, serving up a mean brew and tasty deli-style bites. We’re huge fans of its Toasted Avocado with Mozzarella Sarnies and hearty Breakfast Baps. We’re even bigger fans of its dog-friendly vibes, because you can sit outside and hang with your furry ones (and there’s a park just down the steps for the kids to burn off some steam!).

Pet-Friendly Transportation in Hong Kong

If you have your own car, then you’re set! But many of us in Hong Kong don’t have our own vehicle (and why would you with our amazing public transport system?) and where we want to go isn’t always in walking distance. Figuring out how to get your doggo from point A to point B can be a big question mark when you can’t take them on the MTR and buses, especially if you’re watching little ones, too. Here are some pet-friendly options to help you get to where you want to go.

Taxi

Some taxis in Hong Kong will allow pets in their vehicles, you just need to ask. It is not uncommon to get charged an extra fee of around $10 for the privilege of transporting your furry friend, but it’s totally worth the convenience, right?

Uber

Some Uber drivers will also allow pets. It’s good practice to text the driver who accepts your ride request ahead of time to let them know that you intend to travel with a pet as not every driver is okay with it.

GoGo Van

GoGo Van is a great option when you want to move large things from place to place. But did you know it also offers a pet shuttling service? That’s right! When you book a ride, you can specify that you’re transporting pets and you’re good to go!

99Bus

The 99Bus is an organisation started by someone in Hong Kong who just wanted to take his dog around town with ease. The service has stops all over town, but with only a handful of set routes. But if you’re close to a stop and headed somewhere along the route, this is a very convenient option. Check out its website for route information and ticket prices.

Ferries

Most ferries in Hong Kong will allow pups on board, but there are rules around this. Dogs are only allowed on regular and slow ferries and they must be kept on a leash or in a carrier and be muzzled at all times.
